40th Birthday Card

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my crafty friends!!!  I had a very nice Holiday ... except for the two days I spent in bed ill.  Hope you and your family had a fabulous Christmas and New Year!!  Craft gift wise, I got a new Cropodile with the Michael's gift card I received from my brother, and I got a Hobby Lobby gift card from my dad that I am going to use for a new rolling tote.  Hope you received lots of fun crafting supplies!!

Over the Holiday, I made twelve of the note card portfolios for a client and made money!!  Yippeee!!! Thank you Caroline / MamaC for sharing your note card portfolio with me!!!

So, today, I got a call for a custom birthday card.  She gave me colors of brown and pink.  I was very excited, as I had picked up an adorable My Mind's Eye 6 x 6 pack with those colors at AC Moore in Greenville this past November. (LOVE that store!! Wish we had one in Atlanta!)  Anyway, I thought this would not take too long, as I was going to keep it simple and use a swing card format.

Well, since my beloved Gypsy is away for repair, I thought I would try Cricut Craft Room to weld the word "Fabulous" ... several hours later, NO luck!!!  Had to cut it the old fashion way (ick!) and put on each individual letter.  When Provocraft gets all the bugs out of Cricut Craft Room, it'll be awesome!

The card base is 5 x 7, scored at 2 3/4 and 4 1/4.  Then, you cut a "[  ]"  1inch down from the top and 1 1/2 inches from each side, cutting to the score mark.  (Michelle at rubberroom.com has directions.)

I used Cricut (not Martha's) Elegant Cakes for the letter cuts.  And Martha's Elegant Cakes for the 40.  (Confusing, I KNOW!) Especially since I'm NOT using my G!!

Papers are from My Minds Eye Lost and Found, and some glitter paper I had in my stash.  The glitter paper cut VERY well ... using 6 blade, 3 speed and 4 pressure, cut 2 times.  Had to break out a new mat though.  (aahhhhh ... new matttt...  :-)

MamaC also showed us how to make stick pins easily by using 2" corsage pins from Walmart.  I had several of these made up, as it is quite soothing to just bead.

My apologies for the poor photography.  Obviously photography is NOT on of my talents!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  ... I look forward to crafting and blogging more in 2012!!
Thanks for Visiting!!!
