Happy New Year
Happy New Year!! I'm starting the new year by joining a swap on the Cricut Message Board and also participating in my first SWARM next month! I'm SUPER excited! I'm hoping this will keep me crafty active and productive.
I spent my evening organizing my craft supplies on the new shelf that my husband built for me for Christmas. It's six feet tall and i want to add some dowel rods for ribbon. When I'm finished "embellishing" it, I'll post a picture. HAPPY SCRAPPING!!

Card from Santa

I'm so disappointed that wasn't able to finish the details on this card because I ran out of time since I had to get this in the mail. But, I sure had fun designing it. I used SURE CUTS A LOT and a little bit of Stretch Your Imagination Cricut cartridge. I designed the fireplace my self and used images from Michelle at the Scrapping Table for the Santa, reindeer, tree, and sleigh. She has such WONDERFUL images to use with SCAL.
BELIEVE!!!
Not so quick gift bag

Had to spruce up a $2 gift, so I put this together. Not sure if the recipient will enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together!!! I used Stretch Your Imagination cartridge that I borrowed from a friend. LOVE IT!!! The bag is cut from Plantin Schoolbook. I cut the bag on a 12" X 12" and fit to page. My small box of chocolates and individual package of coffee JUST fit!!!

More Marching Band Stuff - PAPER DOLLS

I am SOO in love with paper dolls!! AND, I don't even have the Cricut cartridge yet!!! I did all these with cuts using SCAL, images from google and from Quilling Patch. I had so much fun!!! I've gotta get the paper doll cartridges for my Cricut so I can play some more!!
These cuts were for decorating gift bags for the seniors of the marching band during Senior Night. Since it was ANOTHER rainy night in GA, I covered the front with Dollar Store contact paper that removes pretty easily.

Twins' Birthday Cards

So my twins turned 17 this past week. And, of course, I didn't get inspired to make their birthday card until the night before, after 11pm!!! I made these tag books so I could put a picture of their birthday present inside since they won't be getting their phones until next month.

All in all I like the way the Roll books turned out. They were fun to make, just wish I had more embellishments that I could have used. ANOTHER reason to go shopping!!!
My girls really liked them, so that's what counts!!

When making the Roll books, I wish I would had the time to flatten the rolls between something heavy. As it was, I just used a bone folder (?) to make the creases. Also, I used strong adhesive tape (the red kind) to attach the 4" X 6" pieces of paper. I did realize that some toilet paper rolls are different sizes. And, I just experimented with the size for the tags, using Plantin SchoolBook. (I'm still exploring all the different options for tags with PS.)
For the book rings, I used 1" book rings from the office supply store. They were pretty cheap for 100 count.
Business Card Holder
.jpg)
I wanted to make something special for a friend at work. She's always giving away her jewelry that she makes or taking photographs and giving them away. She's such a delight! Well, my last day was Sunday, so I wanted to give her something.
I had seen a business card holder that Nicole made posted on the Cricut Message Board. I actually found the old posting and got directions off her blog - www.undertheinkfluence.com, in the month of June, 2009. You can click on the title above to get to her directions.
I did alter her pattern a little bit. I made the box holder using Accent Essentials and cut the figure at 4 1/2" instead of her suggested 5". I also cut a little more off for the base.
Anyway, it was fun and I enjoyed the process. I wanted to add a lot of bling with crystals or glitter (because my friend is a blingy gal), but I didn't have the right paper to go with that. Maybe I should go shopping!!!

Marching Band Items
Here are a couple of the items I created during Marching Band Camp ....
These will be the Seniors pins for the first home game ... used the Sure Cuts A Lot software and gift boxes as the tag board. Our mascot is the Longhorn, hence the western buttons. These are taking quite a while to create, but I think it will be worth it in the end.

No Cricut used on this item. These were little "badges" for the students to add to their gear bags. Kind of like girl scout's SWAP items ... The item is a snare drum because we all went to the Drum Core International Competition at the Georgia Dome. Again, these took a lot of time, but they turned out cute. Can't see that in the photo though. I started with small wooden spools and painted them, then wrote "DCI 2009" on each. The drum sticks are toothpicks with small beads on the end. Maybe next year I'll make them into earrings and they'll be more popular.
The bowling pins and bowling ball below were cut with the Cricut. It was interesting that foam from different companies (Hobby Lobby versus Michael's) cut differently. I believe I used the deep cut blade housing (whew, expensive) and not sure if it was needed or not.

Again, I used the SCAL software, found an image on line, and used Inkscape to make it compatible with SCAL version 1. Sure wish I had had version 2!!!! So, wasn't so happy with how some of the foam cut, but then some of the foam from HL cut a whole lot cleaner. Trial and error, I guess. AND, don't you know that I didn't write any of this down for future reference!!! UGH!!! Oh well. These were a lot of fun. They were badges for our bowling night during Band Camp.
